The Orion spacecraft AR model is being built with the same attention to detail we use across every spacecraft in Stargaze XR — accurate proportions, true-to-life materials and enough surface detail to hold up at life-size scale in mixed reality.
Once complete, the Orion spacecraft AR experience will let you place the full spacecraft in your own living room, garden or classroom using Meta Quest passthrough — alongside the Space Launch System rocket and the four-person Artemis 2 crew.
Why We’re Building Orion Spacecraft AR Now
Artemis 2 is NASA’s first crewed lunar flyby since Apollo 17 in 1972 — a historic mission carrying Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen around the Moon and back. It marks humanity’s return to deep space after more than 50 years.
With NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope having just launched, Artemis 2 is the next major mission we are bringing into augmented reality as part of our growing Missions section.
